Our History

PISC-CIC (Polish Integration Support Centre) was created in Wrexham by Anna Buckley to support the Polish and Eastern European communities living in North Wales and Chester. It began with a simple goal: to help people feel more at home and get the support they need when living in a new country. Over the years, PISC-CIC has grown into a vital community hub, trusted by many and run with the help of kind-hearted volunteers. The centre offers a wide range of services including free legal advice, help with documents and applications, translation and certified notary services, support with finding housing and jobs, and guidance for those dealing with the UK’s benefits or health systems. There’s also financial advice, mortgage help, and bookkeeping support for small businesses and self-employed people. One of PISC’s proudest achievements is the Polish Saturday School, where children learn the Polish language, history, and traditions  helping younger generations stay connected to their heritage while growing up in the UK.

When the war in Ukraine began in 2022, PISC-CIC stepped up in a big way. The team launched a huge emergency aid appeal, gathering donations from across Wrexham, Chester, and beyond. Thanks to the amazing generosity of local people and nonstop work from volunteers, PISC has sent 89 lorries packed with over £6.5 million worth of aid to those affected by the conflict  including food, clothes, baby items, hygiene products, medical equipment, and other essentials. The centre also sent aid to help victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible community spirit, donations, and hours of work from people who wanted to help. To make the work easier, PISC-CIC moved into a rent-free space at Eagles Meadow shopping centre in Wrexham, where donations can be dropped off and people can come for advice, support, or simply a friendly chat. The centre is open to everyone and supports people from all backgrounds, especially those who may be struggling, new to the area, or in crisis.

Today, PISC-CIC continues to make a real difference in people’s lives whether it’s helping someone understand their rights, find housing, access school support, get through a difficult time, or just feel welcome in a new place. It’s more than just a service centre, it’s a place where people come together, where kindness and community are at the heart of everything. Whether you’re Polish, Ukrainian, or from anywhere else, PISC-CIC is here to help. The centre shows what can be achieved when people work together, and proves that even a small team with a big heart can change lives, both locally and across the world.
